About Farm Manager
Farm Manager is built for practical South African farm management — helping livestock and poultry farmers plan feed costs, supplement use and day-to-day decisions with straightforward tools that work on the farm, not just at a desk.
Why Farm Manager exists
Farming decisions often come down to quick numbers: how much feed is needed, what a batch may cost, whether hay or supplements are affordable, and whether a feeding or finishing plan looks viable.
Farm Manager exists to make those calculations easier. The public calculators are designed to help South African farmers make practical decisions around feed, livestock costs, hay usage and supplement or lick programmes before money is spent or animals are placed on feed.
Built for real farm decisions
The free calculators on this website cover common planning questions faced on cattle, sheep and poultry farms:
- Cattle Feedlot Calculator — plan feedlot feed costs, weight gain, break-even price and projected profit.
- Poultry Feed Calculator — estimate feed bags, cost per bird and projected margins for broilers, layers and pullets.
- Hay Bale Cost Calculator — work out bale requirements, feeding costs and make-vs-buy comparisons.
- Supplement & Lick Calculator — calculate daily intake, bags required and total supplement cost for the herd.
You can browse all tools from the farm calculators page. Results are planning estimates only — always confirm feeding programmes and product recommendations with your feed supplier, nutritionist or veterinarian.
Simple tools, practical answers
The public calculators are designed to be easy to use, mobile-friendly and useful in the field. Enter your own figures, run a calculation, adjust inputs and compare scenarios without needing a spreadsheet or complicated software.
Whether you are costing out a feedlot batch, planning winter hay, checking supplement bags for the season or estimating poultry feed spend, Farm Manager focuses on clear answers farmers can act on.
Future direction
Farm Manager is being developed toward broader livestock, feed, health and reporting tools. The farm management app (currently in beta) aims to bring records, feed tracking, animal health notes and reports together in one place for farmers who want practical visibility over their operation.
